Faith and values

What Mass and prayer are like for a child

Prayer opens and closes the day, and each class goes to Mass with the parish once a week. Younger children sit near their teachers and older students take turns reading and serving. Religion class is taught every day, and the principal is glad to talk about any of it before you decide.

In the school

How faith is part of the school

  • Preparing for the sacraments

Children who are Catholic prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion in second grade, together with the parish. The school and the parish office tell families the schedule.

  • Service

Every grade takes on a service project each year, from a food drive to visits with the parish's older members.

  • Holy days and closures

The school keeps the parish calendar. Christmas, Holy Week and the major feast days are closed days.

  • Families of other faiths

All families who want what we teach are welcome, Catholic or not. Students of other faiths take part in classes and Masses as guests, and the principal will talk through what that means for your child.
